When I run the show, the magnifying glass goes behinf the drawing object and so the glass becomes invisible. I have tried grouping the drawing object with the glass and it still does the same. Any suggestions please. This is for an educational game at my school. thanks with eager anticipation John

Re: Drag and Drop in PowerPoint

how do i do this in powerpoint 2007? x

Re: Paperless planning with Teachers Personal Information Manager

really good

Re: What type of device would you choose?

I would say iPad but seeing as it's limited in several areas right now (camera, USB port), I had to go with Netbooks. It is easier to use netbooks for multiple users. I suppose that means that the pros for using a device like the iPod or iPad would have to be strong to make it worth dealing with the hassle.

Re: What type of device would you choose?

I haven't used touches with students. IMHO the smaller the device the less it can be used for creativity but all devices are capable of being used for consuming. Ipods are fine but can't be used for geocaching & similar activities 'cos Apple forgot to add GPS! #fail. Also, Apple has forced users into a new pricing policy making loadsa apps on loadsa devices expensive. What about something like the LG GT540 Optimus which retails in the UK @ 2/3 the price of an ipod. Finally, asked the students what they already have in their pockets & utilise that.

Re: What type of device would you choose?

We have used many handheld devices in classrooms at Challenge CLC - mainly primary. IMHO the smaller the device, the less use it is for creation but they are all good for consuming. There are lots of apps available for maths from the istore but Apple has just changes its pricing policy which means installing loadsa apps on loadsa devices is now quite expensive. Android devices such as the LG GT540 Optimus are cheaper & have more functionality. The hope is that the ipod apps will also be available on Android but free or at least much cheaper.

Re: Find free and legal images with Creative Commons

Just come across a nice blog post on this subject. I was really wanting to get an idea of what people would choose if they were choosing (I probably should have made that clearer). I obviously have an idea of what I want to do with whichever device, but at this very early stage I am interested in getting an idea of peoples preference of device if they can only have one in a secondary classroom.

Of course I agree that the 'what' is more important than the 'how' and that's why I am trying to be as informed as possible about the different options for devices and the experience of those who have used them, so that I can then choose the best device (and apps, services, accessories etc) for what we want to be able to do in the classroom.

I appreciate your input.
